2. Accepting these terms
By using this website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place an order is the one that applies to that order. Changes won’t apply to orders you’ve already placed.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), or the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). If any clause conflicts with those Acts, the Act applies.
3. Who can order
To place an order, you must be 18 or older, or have permission from a parent or guardian. You must also be authorised to use the payment method you choose. If you order on behalf of a business, you confirm that you’re authorised to do so.
4. Prices and payment
- All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT. Delivery costs are shown separately at checkout before you pay.
- Payment is made at checkout through PayFast, using the payment methods PayFast offers, or by another method we’ve confirmed in writing. Card details are entered on PayFast’s secure platform. We never see or store them.
- We only dispatch orders once we’ve received cleared funds in full.
- We take reasonable care to make sure prices and product details are correct. If a price is clearly wrong because of an error, we’ll contact you before processing the order. You can then pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
- You’re responsible for making sure the details you give us are correct, such as your delivery address and contact number. If an incorrect address causes failed or repeated delivery, the extra delivery cost will be for your account.
5. Your order
- Your order is an offer to buy. The automatic confirmation email only confirms that we’ve received it.
- A contract is formed when we accept your order. Acceptance happens when we send you a dispatch confirmation or deliver the goods, whichever comes first.
- Stock is limited. If an item is unavailable after you’ve ordered, we’ll let you know and refund you in full for that item. The rest of your order will still be sent.
- If you made a mistake in your order, email orders@randboltandtool.co.za immediately. We’ll do our best to change it, but we can’t guarantee this once the order has been processed.
- Items in your cart are reserved for 10 minutes. After that, they may become unavailable or change in price. Adding items to your cart doesn’t count as placing an order.
- We may decline or cancel an order if we suspect fraud. If we cancel, we’ll refund any payment we received, unless we’re legally required to hold it while the matter is investigated.
6. Delivery
- We deliver to the address you give at checkout, using The Courier Guy or another courier we choose.
- Estimated delivery times are counted from when we receive payment. They’re estimates, not guarantees. We’ll let you know if we expect a delay.
- Some remote areas may be outside our delivery range. If so, we’ll contact you to arrange collection, an alternative address, or a full refund.
- Please check your parcel for visible damage before signing for it. If the packaging is damaged, note it on the courier’s delivery slip and contact us straight away.
- Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. If you weren’t available at the agreed address and time, risk passes at the time delivery was attempted. Ownership passes to you once we’ve received full payment.
- If a delivery fails because nobody was available, re-delivery costs may be charged to you.
7. Cancellations and cooling-off period
If you’re a consumer buying online, ECTA gives you the right to cancel your order within 7 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason and without penalty. To do this:
- Email orders@randboltandtool.co.za with your order number within the 7 days.
- Return the goods unused, in their original condition and packaging.
- You only pay the direct cost of returning the goods.
- We’ll refund the full purchase price within 30 days of receiving your cancellation.
8. Returns
a) Change of mind (after the cooling-off period)
You can return goods within 30 days of delivery if you change your mind, provided that:
- The goods are unused, in their original condition and packaging, and resaleable.
- You contact us before sending anything back, so that we can give you a return reference.
- You pay the return delivery cost.
Change-of-mind returns are refunded as store credit or to your original payment method, at our discretion. The original delivery fee is not refunded.
b) Defective goods
Under the CPA, if goods are defective or not of good quality, you may return them within 6 months of delivery. You can then choose a repair, a replacement, or a refund. This doesn’t apply to damage caused by misuse, incorrect use, normal wear and tear, or failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If the goods are defective, we’ll cover the reasonable cost of returning them and refund the original delivery fee.
c) Wrong or missing items
If you received the wrong item or something is missing, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we’ll fix it at no cost to you.
d) Suitability
Our products are sold for general use. If you need a product for a specific application, please ask us before ordering and tell us what it’s for. If you didn’t tell us the intended use, we can’t guarantee the product will suit it.
9. Coupons and promotions
- Enter a coupon code on the cart or checkout page before you pay. Codes can’t be applied after an order has been placed.
- Only one coupon code can be used per order.
- Promotions without a code are applied automatically. Please check that the discount shows in your cart before you check out.
- Coupons and promotions may have expiry dates and conditions, which are stated with the offer.
- If a coupon is worth more than your order, the unused balance is forfeited.
- We may cancel a coupon if it has been used fraudulently.
10. Gift vouchers
- RBT gift vouchers can only be bought on www.randboltandtool.co.za.
- In line with the CPA, gift vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase.
- When you redeem a voucher, its value is added to your account as store credit. Once redeemed, it can’t be transferred to another account.
- Vouchers can’t be exchanged for cash. Anyone with the code can redeem the voucher, so please keep it safe. We can’t replace lost or stolen vouchers.
- If your order costs more than your voucher, you can pay the difference with another payment method. Any unused voucher balance stays in your account as store credit.
- If you return an item bought with a voucher, the refund is given as store credit.
- We aim to email vouchers within 24 hours of purchase.
11. Clearance sales
Items sold as “Clearance” can’t be returned for change of mind, apart from your 7-day cooling-off right in clause 7. Your rights for defective goods under clause 8(b) still apply. The exception is a specific defect or condition we clearly described before you bought the item.
12. Free gifts
From time to time, orders may include a free gift. Free gifts are given at our discretion, may vary in type and quantity, and can’t be exchanged for cash or credit.
13. Competitions
- Competitions are open to South African residents aged 18 and older.
- The following people may not enter: RBT members, employees, agents and consultants; suppliers involved in the competition; and the spouses, partners and immediate family of any of these people.
- If you’ve won an RBT competition in the last 30 days, you may not enter another.
- Winners are chosen at random, and the result is final.
- We’ll try to contact the winner within 24 hours of the draw. If we can’t reach the winner after 3 attempts, or the prize isn’t claimed within 30 days, we may draw a new winner.
- Prizes can’t be exchanged for cash, and prizes can’t be returned.
- We may disqualify duplicate or fake social media profiles, and entries that have been tampered with.
- We may end a competition early if circumstances outside our control require it.
- By entering, you consent to RBT publishing the winner’s name or social media profile name on our website and social media accounts to announce the result. We’ll only use entrants’ details to run the competition and contact the winner. Winners may be invited to take part in marketing activities, but are free to decline.
- Competitions on social media aren’t sponsored or run by Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn.
14. Your account and website security
- Keep your login details private. You’re responsible for activity on your account.
- Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Card payments are processed by PayFast.
- Any attempt to damage this website, introduce harmful code, or gain unauthorised access to it may lead to criminal charges and a claim for damages.
15. Privacy
We take the protection of your personal information seriously. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how we use cookies, and your rights under POPIA.
16. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, RBT isn’t liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using this website or our products, including loss of profit or downtime. This doesn’t exclude liability for our gross negligence, and it doesn’t affect your rights under the CPA.
17. Events outside our control
We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Examples include load shedding, strikes, courier disruptions, and natural disasters. In those cases, we’ll let you know and do our best to keep the delay as short as possible.
18. Disputes
- If you have a complaint, please contact us first at info@randboltandtool.co.za. We’ll try to resolve it fairly and quickly.
- If we can’t resolve it, either party may refer the dispute to arbitration under the expedited rules of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA).
- This doesn’t affect your right as a consumer to approach the National Consumer Commission, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, the Information Regulator, or a court.
- These terms are governed by South African law.
19. Address for legal notices
RBT chooses the following physical address for service of legal documents:
40 Beacon Road, Cnr Beacon & Ontdekkers Rd, Florida, Gauteng, South Africa.
Other notices may be sent to info@randboltandtool.co.za.
